d&c 8

The "gift of Aaron" is a gift given to Oliver Cowdery in the Doctrine and Covenants (D&C) 8. The gift was intended to help Cowdery fulfill his role in restoring the gospel.

Explanation
The "gift of Aaron" is similar to Aaron's rod, which was used by Aaron, Moses' brother, to help Moses fulfill his prophetic responsibilities.

The revelation in D&C 8 states that the gift of Aaron is a gift from God, and that no power can take it away.

The revelation also taught Cowdery that he could obtain the gift of translation through prayer, study, and the Holy Ghost.

The revelation was published in 1835, but earlier versions of the revelation referred to Cowdery's gift as "the gift of working with the sprout" or the "rod of nature".
